How it all Began:

In the backdrop of 2012, against the bustling canvas of Washington DC, I found myself in the midst of early motherhood, seeking a refuge from the constant rhythm of breastfeeding, diapers, and the perpetual mess at home. It was then that I stumbled upon an upholstery class, a haven that would unknowingly set the course for my creative journey.

Learning to reupholster an armchair became my escape, a nearly meditative process that allowed my mind to unwind while unveiling the hidden intricacies of craftsmanship. The joy of unraveling the old, understanding its structure, and then recreating it into something even more enchanting became an art form that captivated me endlessly.

At the time, I was also at the helm of a home staging and interior design company, navigating the delicate dance between personal and professional pursuits. The winds of change blew us back West to The East Bay in 2014.

With the doors of my DC business closed, I once again found solace in the craft of upholstery, unknowingly laying the foundation for a new venture – Curio Furniture.

As the sun set over Oakland, my journey took a new turn. I began showcasing my carefully crafted furniture pieces in local Oakland shops and fairs, each piece a testament to the passion and dedication woven into its fabric. The community embraced Curio Furniture, and the joy of seeing my creations find new homes fueled my commitment to this artistic endeavor.

A decade later, this journey has evolved into the essence of SpiritThread Studio & Stitches. Combining my background in interior decorating and design, home staging, the artistry of upholstery, and the innate talent for curating home goods, this space is a reflection of a decade's worth of passion, growth, and an ever-evolving story of creating spaces that are not just adorned with beauty but resonate with the spirit within.
